Zusammenfassung:	1,104,574. Laminates. ESSO STANDARD SOC. ANON. FRANCAISE. 27 July, 1965 [1 March, 1965], No. 32013/65. Heading B5N. A laminating process comprises applying as an adhesive to a substrate a pasty emulsion of a hydrated hydrophilic earth, a petroleum resin and an elastomer, said emulsion containing ambient temperature operable curing agents, drying the coating and applying thereto an organic solvent and an elastomeric material in sheet form. The sheet of elastomer may be reinforced with a loose woven fibreglass cloth and it may be provided on its outer surface with a sheet of reflecting material, e.g. an embossed aluminium sheet. Specified elastomeric sheet materials are natural rubber, butyl and halogenated butyl rubber, polychloroprene, ethylene/propylene copolymers, copolymers of mono olefins with norbonene, dicyclopentadiene or 5-methylene norbonene, polyisobutylene and polyethylene. The specified hydrophilic earth is clay. The exemplified elastomer for use in the emulsion is butyl rubber. Exemplified solvents are naphthas, white spirit, gas oil and mixtures thereof. A primer, e.g. a solution or emulsion of bitumen, tar or a petroleum resin may be applied to the substrate prior to the emulsion.
