A drill 7 is secured in a body 2 by a split collet 4, an adaptor 30 forming a seating for the end of the drill, is abutted against a stop 21, and is laterally movable relative to the stop, so as to allow for any eccentricity of the end. The adaptor may be magnetically held against the stop, or it may be held by upsets 38, Fig. 2. The stop is screwed into body 2 with a left hand thread so as to allow for axial adjustment. Coolant is supplied to the cutting end 26 of the drill through a coupling 42, and passages 33, 25.
