Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:1,117,564. Tobacco smoke filter. PHILIP MORRIS Inc. 20 Sept., 1966 [24 Oct., 1965], No. 41883/66. Heading A2C. A tobacco smoke filter 10 comprises an elongate hollow shell formed from two semicylindrical portions 11, 12 having barriers 15, 16 formed therein which cooperate with an elongate filter element 13 to define two separate chambers 30, 31 so that smoke drawn through the filter 10 passes through the element 13 in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the filter 10. The element 13 comprises a substantially flat strip of filter material having a width greater than its thickness and has at least one and preferably both ends 14 impregnated with a material impervious to the passage of liquid particles in tobacco smoke. Granulated filter material or flavourings may be located within the chamber 30. An additional barrier may be included to form three chambers and cause smoke to make two passes through the filter element (Fig. 7, not shown). In another embodiment (Fig 8, not shown) the filter element has a cruciform shape, the branches of the cruciform defining with the shell a plurality of chambers within the shell.
