Zusammenfassung: | A functional fluid, e.g. hydraulic fluid, contains at least 50% by weight of a phosphoramidate of the formula wherein R1 represents a radical of the formula where n is 1 or 2, R2 represents a radical of the class defined for R1 or represents a radical of the formula -(CH2)x(CF2)yCF2Z where x is 1 to 4, y is 0 to 5 and Z is fluorine or hydrogen and the "alk" groups are each a C1- 5 alkyl radical. Other hydraulic fluids, e.g. the trialkyl phosphates, the dialkyl arylphosphonates or the aromatic polyethers, and fluid additives, e.g. corrosion inhibitors, antioxidants or viscosity-index improvers, may also be present. The fluid may be used in an hydraulic system having a pump which supplies power to the system, in an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle, or in an hydraulic braking device.ALSO:Novel phosphoramidates of the formula wherein R1 represents a radical of the formula where n is 1 or 2, R2 represents a radical of the class defined for R1 or a radical of the formula -(CH2)x(CF2)yCF2Z where x is 1 to 4 y is 0 to 5 and Z is fluorine or hydrogen, and the "alk" groups are each a C1- 5 alkyl radical are obtained (1) by reacting compounds of the formula where X is chlorine, bromine or iodine, with dialkylamines HN(alk)2 or (2) by reacting phosphoroamidic dihalides X2PON(alk)2 with the appropriate hydroxy compounds. The reactions may be carried out at a temperature of 0-150 DEG C., in the presence of an inert diluent or solvent, e.g. a halogenated alkane, an ether or an amide and in the presence of a catalyst and an acid scavenger, e.g. excess of the dialkylamine, triethylamine, tributylamine, a heterocyclic nitrogen base or an alkali or alkaline earth metal oxide or a basic salt thereof. The compounds are useful as hydraulic fluids (see Division C5), heat-exchange media, gyro fluids and lubricants. Bis - (m - trifluoromethylphenyl) phosphorochloridate used as a starting material is obtained by reacting m-trifluoromethylphenol with phosphoryl chloride and 2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7-dodecafluoroheptyl - m - trifluoromethyl phenyl phosphorochloridate is obtained by reacting m-trifluoromethylphenol with phosphoryl chloride and reacting the m-trifluoromethyl-phenyl phosphorodichloridate produced with dodecafluoroheptanol. |
