Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:A co-polymer having the general formula wherein n is at least 1, a is from 1 to 200, b is from 5 to 200, the ratio a:b varies from 0.05 to 3, u is 0 or 1 to 4, y is a A is H, R is H or a monovalent hydrocarbon or halohydrocarbon radical (saturated or unsaturated), R1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon, halohydrocarbon or cyanoalkyl radical, and Z is a halogen or an alkyl radical, can be made by initially mixing and reacting in the presence of an acid acceptor and under anhydrous conditions 0.15 to 3 pts. (by wt.) of a siloxane of the formula wherein X is a halogen, per part of a polyhydric phenol of the formula and thereafter phosgenating the intermediate reaction product so formed until the resulting mass achieves maximum viscosity. The acid acceptor may de a t-amine, e.g. pyridine, quinoline or tributylamine, and can also be used as a solvent for the reactants. Other solvents specified chlorobenzene and methylene chloride. In a typical example, a chlorinated polydimethyl siloxane of the formula was added to a mixture of 2,2-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propane, chlorobenzene and pyridine and the resulting mixture was heated to 55 DEG C. for 1/2 hour; thereafter phosgene was passed into the mixture until maximum viscosity of the mixture was attained. Further chlorobenzene was added and the mass was filtered, the copolymer being precipitated by adding methanol to the filtrate. Uses.-As surface coatings for appliances, as insulation and other coatings for rods and wires, as binding materials and adhesives, e.g. in laminates.
