Zusammenfassung:Tetracycline is produced by cultivating a strain of Streptomyces aureofaciens, capable of producing both chlortetracycline and tetracycline, in a liquid nutrient medium containing assimilable carbon and nitrogen sources, inorganic nutrient salts and a chlorination inhibitor which is a natural liquid material containing organic-bound sulphur which is present in a plant of the genus Brassica or garlic. The material may be in the form of mustard or rape seed, unrefined oil or cake. Benzyl thiocyanate may be present to stimulate the production of antibiotic.
