In a crane having principal and auxiliary jibs 1, 5, pulleys 14 may be readily detached from the end of an elevating lever 12 when the crane has been erected, so that an elevating winch 17 may be used to move the auxiliary jib 5 by means of a rope 24 which is attached to the pulleys 14. The crane is erected by the winch 17 and ropes 13 attached to the lever 12 and the tip of the jib 1. When erected the jib is held by screws 26 and stays 25. A hoisting rope for heavy loads may be passed over a pulley at the top of the jib 1. The pulleys 14 revolve on a hollow shaft which is locked to the lever 12 by pins.
