Zusammenfassung: | Dichlorotetrahydrothiophene- 2:5-dicarboxylic acid dichlorides of formula where X1 and X3 represent hydrogen and X2 and X4 are chlorine, or X1 and X3 are chlorine and X2 and X4 hydrogen, are produced by reacting tetrahydrothiophene-2:5-dicarboxylic acid with a chlorinating agent at 20-100 DEG C. under anhydrous conditions. The chlorinating agent may be a mixture of phosphorous oxychloride, phosphorous trichloride and chlorine. The dicarboxylic acid starting material is made by treating a a 1-dichloroadipic acid with sodium carbonate and sodium sulphide, and liberating with sulphuric acid. The dicarboxylic acid dichloride product may be hydrolysed with aqueous hydrochloric acid to form thiophene-2:5-dicarboxylic acid. The dichloride may be reacted with an amino benzene of formula where A represents a substituted or unsubstituted ortho-phenylene radical, and Y represents an oxygen atom or a group -NR-, where R represents a hydrogen atom or an organic residue, to form a bisazole compound of formula The dichloride may also be reacted with ammonia, a primary, or secondary amine to form the diamide, e.g. o-phenylene diamine in the presence of polyphosphoric acid produces 2:5-di-[benzimidazolyl- (21)]-thiophene. The dichloride may also be esterified by reaction with an organic hydroxy compound. |
