A snubbing pin 28 comprises in combination a body member having a ceramic cylindrical surface 40 and raised guide means protruding from said cylindrical surface and defining therewith a helical path on said body member. Said guide means may include a helical raised ridge 38 protruding from said cylindrical surface as in Fig. 1, or may include a plurality of discrete raised protuberances 44 extending from said cylindrical surface, as in Fig. 2. Means (not shown) may be provided for electrically heating the pin and for mounting it rigidly on a support member 39. In Fig. 1, yarn 20 to be drawn is fed from cake 22 via guide 26 and rolls 24 to pin 28 and is drawn therefrom by meshed gears 30, 32 rotating at a higher speed than rolls 24, which simultaneously draw and texture the yarn before passing via guide 34 to wind-up at 36. If yarn texturing is not desired, gears 30, 32 may be replaced by rolls as at 24 or by a draw roll with an associated separator roll.
