Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:A synthetic linear polymer having recurring units of the formula where R is hydrogen or a monovalent hydrocarbon radical, contains as antioxidant at least 0.005% by weight of the polymer of a metal chelate of 8-hydroxy quinoline or a derivative thereof, the metal chelate having no substituent in the 2 or 7 position of the quinoline radical, being heat stable at 295 DEG C. and being soluble in a melt of the polymer to an extent of at least 0.005% by weight. Specified polymers are polyhexamethylene adipamide, polymerized 6-aminocaproic acid, polytetra methylene sebacamide, polytetramethylene adipamide, the polyamide from bis (4-aminocyclohexyl) methane and azelaic acid, sebacic acid or decamethylene - 1 : 10 - dicarboxylic acid, poly 2 - methylhexamethylene terephthalamide, the copolymer of polyhexamethylene adipamide and polyhexamethylene isophthalamide and the copolymer of polyhexamethylene adipamide and polyhexamethylene t-butylisophthalamide. Specified complexes are those of 8-hydroxyquinoline, 3 - chloro - 8 - hydroxyquinoline, 6 - methyl - 8 - hydroxyquinoline, 5-phenyl - 8 - hydroxyquinoline, 6 - butoxy - 8-hydroxy quinoline and 5-cyano-8-hydroxyquinoline with compounds of CuII, MnII, SnIV, CrIII, NiII, PbII, UO2II, ZnII AIII and CoII. The examples describe the addition of the complexes to melts of the polymers, sodium iodide also being added to improve the stability of the polymer against atmospheric degradation, the resultant melts being spun into filaments.
