Zusammenfassung: | A composition comprises polyvinyl chloride and a halogenated derivative of butyl rubber, the latter being defined as a copolymer of (a) 85-99,5% of C4-C7 iso-olefin with (b) 0,5-15% of C4-C14 multiolefin containing one pair of conjugated double bonds. The halogenated derivative may be present in a proportion of 0,5-50, preferably 1-40, particularly 3-30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride. It is preferred that (1) the halogenated derivative is a chlorinated butyl rubber containing at least 0,5 wt. per cent combined chlorine and not more than 1 atom thereof per double bond in the polymer; (2) the composition contains 0,5-5 parts of a stabiliser, such as dibutyl tin dilaurate, and 0,25-3 parts of a lubricant, such as stearic acid or N:N1-ethylenebisstearamide, per 100 parts by weight, of polyvinyl chloride. The composition may be heated at 275-450 DEG F. for 0,1-100 minutes, preferably at 300-400 DEG F. for 1-30 minutes. Specified monomers are (a) isobutylene; (b) isoprene (preferred), butadiene, myrcene, piperylene and allo-ocimene. Instead of polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride/acetate copolymer may be used. |
