Zusammenfassung:989,774. Magnetic storage devices. AMP Inc. Dec. 18, 1963 [Jan. 4, 1963], No. 49926/63. Heading H1T. A multi-aperture core 1 (Fig. 1) of rectangular loop magnetic material stores, e.g. a binary " 0 " when the remanent magnetic flux in the core is all clockwise in direction (the " clear " state, Fig. 2, not shown) and stores a " 1 " when the direction of the remanent flux around the edge of main aperture 2 is changed to anticlockwise (the " set " state, Fig. 3, not shown), an indication of the information stored being obtained by applying a limited radio frequency alternating current to a read-out winding 8 which passes through read-out aperture 4 twice as many times as it passes through main aperture 2. If a " 1 " is stored the flux around aperture 4 reverses with the alternations of the current in winding 8 and produces an output in the similarly arranged winding 9 sufficient to energize a lamp 10 or other indicator. Information can be transferred from the core 1 via an output winding 12 by reversing the flux round aperture 5 when the core is in the " set " state by a pulse in a priming winding 11 and then energizing the advance winding 13 to return the core to the "clear" " state. A holding winding 14 linking 5 prevents spurious signals in winding 12 from affecting the core. Parameters of an exemplary device are given. Specifications 899,366 and 899,367'are referred to.
