Zusammenfassung:980,333. Vibration dampers. WILLIAM, DOXFORD & SONS (ENGINEERS) Ltd., J. F. BUTLER, and F. ORBECK. Nov. 13, 1962 [Nov. 16, 1961], No. 41055/61. Heading F2S. A vibration damper for a rotatable shaft 10 comprises a floating mass member 21, 22 rotatable about the shaft and a shaft member 14, which mass member and shaft member are connected by a resilient drive including at least one axially extending leaf spring 27. One face of the leaf spring co-operates with two abutments of one member, the opposite face cooperating with an abutment of the other member between the two aforementioned abutments. Relative rotation of the members in one sense effects flexing of the leaf, the faces of the two abutments in contact with the spring are convexly curved towards one another so that as the spring is flexed the points of engagement of the spring with these abutments move axially towards the third abutment. In the construction shown the abutments are formed as teeth about the circumference of three discs 16, 25, the two discs 25 being attached as by shrinking to the floating member and the other to the shaft member. When the teeth are of the same width as the spaces between the leaf springs then the leaf springs alternate with the teeth (Fig. 5, not shown) but when the teeth are of greater width alternate teeth are omitted and the leaf springs are initially preloaded (Fig. 6, not shown). The cavity 39 between the shaft member 14 and the floating member 21, 22 is filled with hydraulic fluid, spring loaded, bored piston members 33 acting in cylindrical cavities as absorbers of axially directed vibrations. The leaf springs may comprise a plurality of laminations.
