Zusammenfassung:917,098. Soldering wires to electrical components. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Nov. 20, 1961 [Nov. 21, 1960], No. 41408/61. Class 83 (4). A method of attaching a connecting wire to an electrical component, in which one end portion of the wire is heated, and relative movement is produced between the wire and the heating means to cause the end of the heated wire to contact the component and whereby the heat applied to the component is conducted from the heated wire. Two pairs of electrodes 4 of tantalum, tungsten or carbon are positioned adjacent to the ends of copper connecting wires 3 which are provided with e.g. looped or flattened tinned heads and supported in guides 7. The wires are heated by closing the electrodes 4 about their diameters and the temperature controlled by photo-cells 5. When the required temperature has been attained the electrodes part and a pair of pneumatically or electromagnetically controlled punches 6 are operated to press the leads of the wires against the end contact faces 2 of a component 1 positioned between them. In a modification the components 1 and wires 3 are automatically fed side by side in cassettes or on conveyer belts to the heating and fixing station. In a further modification, the wire ends are heated by a series of reducing gas, e.g. hydrogen, low paraffins or domestic gas, flames and the components shielded by a screen.
