[Also in Division H3] A high-frequency negative resistance diode bi-stable circuit (see Division H3) comprises a negative resistance diode 3, Fig. 13, mounted between two holders 19-1, 19-2. The space between the holders is filled with an epoxy resin 21 which is extruded by forcing the holders together to form an annulus 22. A resistive coating 23 formed round the annulus provides distributed inductance and resistance across the diode. Two circuits may be connected in series in a coaxial line, Fig. 14, bias for the diodes being provided via an annulus 27 of resistive material from a battery Eb. The resin may contain a ferrite material, and the arrangement placed in a magnetic field for varying the inductance. |
