Zusammenfassung: | 803,197. Mercury-cathode electrolytic cells. PINTSCH BAMAG A.G. Nov. 13, 1956 [Nov. 25, 1955], No. 34658/56. Class 41. An electrolytic cell having a mercury cathode has insulating walls 3 fixed on the bottom 1 of the cell parallel to the direction of mercury flow, the walls 3 being broader at the base than at the top in order to cover an appreciable area of the bottom of the cell without impeding current flow to an anode 2 above the cathode. The walls 3, which may be of glass, porcelain or a synthetic resin, are triangular in cross-section and fit in grooves 4 in the bottom of the cell. The anode 2 is a carbon plate and is adjustable vertically and horizontally transversely of the walls 3, which subdivide the mercury into separate strips 6. |
