The invention relates to a weighing apparatus for weighing products, having: - a conveying device (102) which is supported against the main body and has a drive (M) for driving an endless conveying means (110), wherein the conveying device (102) is designed such that a product (104) to be weighed can be moved on a weighing side (122) of the endless conveying means (110) onto a weighing platform (118) provided underneath the weighing side (122), wherein the weighing side (122) of the endless conveying means (110) rests on the weighing platform (118) when a product (104) rests on said weighing side, at least during a weighing process; - a weighing cell (120) for measuring the gravitational force of the product (104) resting on the weighing side (122) and the weighing platform (118); and - a control apparatus (108) for controlling the drive of the conveying device (102) and detecting the gravitational force of a product (104) to be weighed when the conveying means is stationary. According to the invention, the control apparatus (108) controls the conveying device (102) to carry out a static or dynamic weighing process in such a way that the weighing side (122) of the conveying means is relaxed during the weighing process. The invention also relates to a corresponding method.
