The invention relates to a filter element (16) for a filter device for fluid, which filter element can be arranged in a filter housing between at least one fluid inlet and at least one fluid outlet such that it can be replaced, to a filter housing and to a filter device. The filter element (16) has at least one filter medium (30) and at least one seal (22), arranged peripherally in relation to an axis of the filter element (16) on a front edge of the filter element (16). The at least one seal (22) has a sealing surface (38) which extends at least over some of the periphery with respect to the axis (18) and which is oriented axially at least to some extent and which is delimited radially inward by at least one radially inner sealing strip (36) that extends over at least part of the periphery and/or radially outward by at least one radially outer sealing strip (42) that extends over at least part of the periphery. In at least one peripheral portion (40) of the at least one seal (22) in which there is no radially inner portion of a radially inner sealing strip (36) there is at least one radially outer portion of at least one radially outer sealing strip (42). Alternatively or additionally, in at least one peripheral portion (40) of the at least one seal (22) in which there is no radially outer portion of a radially outer sealing strip (42) there is at least one radially inner portion of at least one radially inner sealing strip (36).
