The invention relates to a filter element (10) for filtering a fluid, with at least one filter bellows (12) that has a characteristic unfiltered side (50) and a characteristic clean side (52) opposite said unfiltered side. The filter bellows (12) is surrounded by a frame (28) on the periphery thereof, with a laterally protruding seal-carrying web (31), openings (30) being provided in the web (31), which extend along the outer edge (32), a seal (40) surrounding the web (31) being provided and sealing material of the seal (40) extending through the openings (30), and at least one sealing surface (42, 44) of the seal (40) is arranged such that it is laterally staggered in relation to the openings (30) relative to a flat side of the web (31). The invention further relates to a filter system (100) comprising a replaceable filter element (10) of this type.
