The invention relates to a filter insert (1) for a filter container (F) of a cooking appliance (G), having a first filter (6), wherein the first filter (6) is channel-shaped and the side surface thereof is designed as at least one first filter element (7) and encloses an inner hollow chamber (9), a top cover element (2) having at least one upper opening (4) lies on an upper end face (10) of the first filter (6) and the at least one upper opening (4) is fluidically connected to the inner hollow chamber (9). A filter container according to the invention has a cup-like base shape having a top-side inlet opening (I), a floor (Bd) and a side wall (Sw) set on the floor, and furthermore a bottom drain opening (O1) in the floor which leads to a storage volume (S) that can be isolated, and a lateral drain opening (O2) in the side wall.
