Means for mounting a taximeter 1 comprises a projection 3, extending from the base plate 2, having undercut recesses 17, 18 in which engage a pair of clamping elements 6, 9, a screw 12 being provided to draw the elements 6, 9 together to grip the projection 3 and means, e.g. a seal cup 13, for holding a seal, for securing the elements against unauthorized displacement. The clamping element 6 is provided with means, e.g. the tongue 8, for attachment to the vehicle. The recesses 17, 18 may be provided on the four sides of a projection 3 to allow of alternative mounting positions. A stud 5 in one member 6 engages a locating hole 4 in the base plate 3. Locking means associated with the vehicle adapting gear device may also be secured by the screw 12 and a common seal'be provided.
