Zusammenfassung: | A process for the manufacture of plastic masses based on vinyl chloride polymers or after-chlorinated polymers of vinyl chloride, having a notch bar impact strength which is higher than that of the polymer or after-chlorinated polymer, comprises incorporating in said polymer or after-chlorinated polymer at least one homogeneously chlorinated product of a macromolecular polymerised mono-olefin. The vinyl chloride polymer may be a homopolymer or a copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinylidene chloride, acrylonitrile, acrylic esters or maleic esters. The mono-olefin polymer may be polyethylene or a copolymer of ethylene and propylene, which may be prepared by high pressure or low pressure polymerization processes. The compositions may also contain other chlorine-containing polymers, e.g. chloroprene polymers, plasticizers, e.g. dioctyl phthalate dyes, pigments and stabilisers. The compositions may be prepared by milling, extruding or coprecipitation of solutions or suspensions of the components. The compositions may be formed into foils, sheets, tubes, bands, rods, profiles and bottles, and used in lacquers and electrical insulation. |
