The compressor, especially for the air conditioning unit of a motor vehicle, has a housing (211) in which is installed a compression unit for the drawing and compressing of a cooling medium, especially carbon dioxide, and a housing holder constructed as a separate component which clampable around the housing. The holder is constructed after the fashion of a hose clamp or clamping collar. The holder for the housing may be in one or two parts, whereby in the latter case the holder comprises two retaining rings which are clamped together around the compressor housing.
