Modified foliated silicates obtained by modification with ammonium compound with acid group and esterification with di- or polyol are used for producing polyurethanes containing exfoliated foliated silicates e.g. for insulating foam

Modified foliated silicates (I) are obtained by (i) providing foliated silicates, (ii) modification by incorporating ammonium compounds (II) with an acid group; and (iii) esterification of this acid group with di- or polyols. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) polyurethanes (III) containing exfoliated foliated silicates; (2) (III) production. Die Erfindung betrifft modifizierte Schichtsilikate, erhältlich durch i) Bereitstellen von Schichtsilikaten, ii) Aufweitung des Schichtabstands durch Einlagerung von Ammoniumverbindungen, die eine Säuregruppe aufweisen, und iii) Veresterung der Säuregruppe der eingelagerten Ammoniumverbindung mit Di- oder Polyolen sowie Polyurethane, bevorzugt Polyurethanschaumstoffe, enthaltend exfolierte Schichtsilikate.
