Method for producing precisely positioned print images on a support medium or paper web using an electrophotographic printer or copier. Positioning errors arising upon contact with the paper web are determined relative to a toner image on a toner transfer band. Dependent on the determined position errors, the position of the paper web is matched, prior to each subsequent contact, to the position of the toner image so that toner image and paper web are positioned in an essentially error free manner. An independent claim is made for an arrangement for producing a position precise print image on a print medium or paper web with an electrophotographic printer or copier.
