Method for handling an Internet key exchange mechanism in which it is handled as a feature based on a datagram congestion control program (DCCP). Based on the program a certificate is obtained for an IP address change which can be provided to a communications partner as evidence of the address change. The communications partner can then maintain a connection in the DCCP plane on the basis of the certificate. Die Erfindung beschreibt ein Verfahren zur Aushandlung eines Internet-Schlüssel-Austausch-Mechanismus, bei dem der Internet-Schlüssel-Austausch-Mechanismus als Eigenschaft (Feature) auf der Basis eines Datagram-Congestion-Control-Protocols (DCCP) ausgehandelt wird.
