Zusammenfassung:	The drive medium (2) for the actuator (1) is a fuel, and this is supplied by the high pressure fuel pump of the engine. The actuator is located in a chamber (3), from where any leakage together with fuel and/or air (4) is supplied to the IC engine. It drives a functional element also located in the chamber. The sliding surfaces (5) of the actuator are coated for low friction. The actuator is a linear drive, a piston-cylinder drive (6), or a rotary drive, e.g. a rotary piston drive. Die Erfindung betrifft einen hydraulischen Aktuator (1) für einen Verbrennungsmotor. Um einen solchen mit weniger Aufwand betreiben zu können, wird vorgeschlagen, daß das Antriebsmedium (2) ein Kraftstoff ist und daß sich der Aktuator (1) in einem Raum (3) befindet, von dem aus eine mögliche Leckage zusammen mit Kraftstoff und/oder Luft (4) dem Verbrennungsmotor zugeführt wird.
