Zusammenfassung: | Production of a porous abrasive article with an interconnected porosity of at least 50 (or 40-80) vol.% comprises pressing a mixture of 0.5-25 vol.% abrasive particles, 19.5-49.5 vol.% binder and 50-80 (or 40-80) vol.% dispersoid particles, heat treating the resulting composite and immersing it in a solvent to dissolve out the dispersoid. Independent claims are also included for: (1) an abrasive article produced as above; (2) an abrasive segment for a segmented grindstone, comprising a composite including superabrasive particles and a fritted metal binder matrix, where: the composite comprises 0.5-25 vol.% abrasive particles, 19.5-49.5 vol.% binder and 50-80 (or 40-80) vol.% interconnected pores; the binder matrix comprises 35-70 wt.% copper, 30-65 wt.% tin and 0.2-1.0 wt.% phosphorus; and the superabrasive particles are of diamond or cubic boron nitride and have an average size below 300 mu m; (3) a segmented grindstone comprising a circular core with specific strength of at least 2.4 MPa-cm /g and a density of 0.5-8 g/cm ; a series of abrasive segments comprising a composite including abrasive particles and a fritted metal binder matrix, where the composite has an interconnected porosity of 50-80 (or 40-80) vol.%; and a thermally stable adhesive between the core and the segments. |
