Zusammenfassung: | Preparing N-carbamoylamino acid (I) by reacting an N-carbamoylamino acid amide (II) in presence of a hydrolase (III), is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) preparing amino acids (IV) from (I) or hydantoin that includes the new preparation of (I); (2) preparing (IV) from (II) comprising reaction of (II) to (I) and/or enantioselective reaction of (I) to free (IV) that includes the new preparation of (I); and (3) whole cell catalyst (A) comprising cloned genes for (III), a carbamoylase, (V), a hydantoinase (VI) and optionally a hydantoin racemase (VII).
