The system (1) has rollers (4) for forming a rolling caliber and comprising a rolling axis. An axial engaging unit is provided for axially engaging one of the rollers with respect to the rolling axis. The engaging unit has a drive motor that is effectively connected with the roller. The engaging unit is arranged coaxial to the rolling axis around a rolling shaft (5). The engaging unit has a measuring unit for measuring axial position of the roller. The rollers are arranged at a rocker arm (11) that is supported at a rolling stand (2) over a rocker arm supporting bolt (13). An independent claim is also included for a rolling method for rolling a rod or tubular rolling stock in a rolling system.
