The tempering cavity is arranged between the base body and the mask, and is formed by a recess (6) arranged in the mask and/or in the base body. A thermally conductive structure (5) made of an open-pored, porous and permeable material is arranged in the tempering cavity, and is firmly bonded with a wall region of the tempering cavity. The heatable tool comprises a mask (2) imaging the contour of a workpiece, a base body (3) interconnected with the mask, and tempering cavities for receiving a tempering medium to temper the workpiece. The tempering cavity is arranged between the base body and the mask, and is formed by a recess (6) arranged in the mask and/or in the base body. A thermally conductive structure (5) made of an open-pored, porous and permeable material is arranged in the tempering cavity, and is firmly bonded with a wall region of the tempering cavity. A distance between a bottom surface of the recess and a bottom surface disposed opposite to the surface of the mask or the base body is not constant. The base body and/or the mask comprises a support unit limiting at the tempering cavity, where the support unit is supported at the opposite surface of the mask or the base body. The heatable tool further comprises an ejector unit arranged within the region of the support unit, an input unit for introducing the tempering medium in the tool, and output units for deriving the tempering medium. The tempering cavity is liquid lockable during molding a workpiece. The base body and the mask are detachably connected together. An independent claim is included for a method of producing a heatable tool such as a die-cast metal tool for molding workpieces.
