Zusammenfassung: | Biocomposite comprises a starch-based foam fraction of defined particle size and a bio-based binding agent, where the foam fraction and the binder are formed as pressed structural component. Independent claims are also included for: (1) producing the biocomposite, comprising producing the starch foam particles or providing the recycled starch foam particles of defined particle size, mixing the starch foam particles and bio-based binding agent using a mixer, placing the resulting mixture of the starch foam particles and bio-based binding agent into a mold, and pressing and curing the resulting composite material; and (2) producing the starch foam core, comprising introducing a starch suspension formed from cornstarch and water into an extruder, foaming the starch suspension to a starch foam after removing from the extruder, and curing the starch foam.
