Independent claims are also included for (1) a fermenter comprising a fermenter vessel for receiving of a liquid volume, where a device is provided in the fermenter tank such that the suction side of the pump is arranged below the liquid surface of the liquid in the fermenter vessel; and (2) a method for removing a liquid volume of light materials present on liquid surface by a device, where the light materials are drawn off by immersed pump in the liquid surface.
