Zusammenfassung:	The vehicle has a battery (5) e.g. lead and lithium ion batteries, provided within a body (1), and a charge plugging device (2) i.e. charging socket, attached at the body. An electrical conductor (6) feeds electric current into the battery through the plugging device. The conductor has a controllable switch (9) i.e. electronic switch, for interrupting an electrical connection between the plugging device and the battery. A sensor (10) i.e. magnetic field sensor, detects direction of current flowing through the conductor. The switch is controlled depending on the detected direction of current. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a motor vehicle.
