Zusammenfassung:The device has a charge air cooling circuit for cooling a charge air cooler (22), and a motor cooling circuit for cooling an internal combustion engine (10). A control is provided for temperature-independent switching between two operating modes, and the two cooling circuits are coupled together in the operating modes in a different way. The control actuates a reversing valve (26), which selectively releases two spacer branches (30) of the charge air cooling circuit or locks one of the spacer branches. The reversing valve is arranged downstream to the charge air cooler. An independent claim is also included for a method for cooling charge air in a motor vehicle. Eine Vorrichtung zur Kühlung von Ladeluft in einem Kraftfahrzeug umfasst einen Ladeluft-Kühlkreislauf zur Kühlung wenigstens eines Ladeluft-Kühlers (22, 38) und einen Motor-Kühlkreislauf zur Kühlung eines Verbrennungsmotors (10).
