The method involves producing preparations of active thrombocytes (100), and producing images of the thrombocytes by using a dark field microscopy and/or a phase-contrast microscopy and/or a fluorescence microscopy and/or a reflection contrast microscopy. A measure for parameters of the thrombocytes and/or a measure for pseudopodium of the thrombocytes is determined based on the images. A parameter characterizing a shape and/or a representative value for activation of the thrombocytes is determined based on the measures. The measures are determined by image processing software. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for quantifying shape of thrombocytes.
