Die Erfindung zeigt ein Staufach (1; 1'), insbesondere für einen Fahrzeuginnenraum, umfassend einen zwischen einer vollständig geschlossenen (B) und einer maximal geöffneten (A) Position bewegbaren Deckel (2), einen Boden (3) und eine Arretiervorrichtung (4; 4'; 4''), welche den Deckel in einer geöffneten Position hält oder arretiert. Erfindungsgemäß steht ein Beschleunigungselement (5; 5'; 5'') mit dem Deckel in Wirkverbindung, wobei das Beschleunigungselement in einer Ruhestellung (R) durch eine Auslösevorrichtung (6; 6'; 6'') unter Speicherung von Energie gehalten ist und in einer Auslösestellung (AS) der Auslösevorrichtung freigegeben wird, so dass die gespeicherte Energie des Beschleunigungselements in kinetische Energie des Deckels umgesetzt und dieser in die geschlossene Stellung gebracht wird.
