The method involves portioning a product in pasty condition, and transferring the product into a packaging. The product in the pasty condition is directly homogenized before transferring the product into the packaging and after portioning the product. A homogenizer (10) is arranged between a dosing device (4) and an outlet opening (11), and includes an agitator (18), where the agitator includes a rotation axis (17) that is located perpendicular to a conveying direction of the pasty product through the homogenizer. Es werden ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Verpacken von portionierten, pastösen Produkten, insbesondere Emulsionen wie z. B. Butter oder Margarine, vorgeschlagen, indem das Produkt in pastösem Zustand portioniert und in eine Verpackung überführt wird. Um eine teilweise Entmischung des abgefüllten Produktes zuverlässig zu verhindern, ist erfindungsgemäß vorgesehen, daß das Produkt in pastösem Zustand unmittelbar vor dem Überführen in die Verpackung und nach dem Portionieren homogenisiert wird. Eine Verpackungsvorrichtung mit einer Dosiereinrichtung zum Portionieren des pastösen Produktes und mit einem der Dosiereinrichtung nachgeordneten Auslaß zum Überführen des pastösen Produktes in eine Verpackung ist zu diesem Zweck mit einem zwischen der Dosiereinrichtung und dem Auslaß angeordneten Homogenisator ausgestattet, welcher insbesondere ein Rührwerk aufweist.
