The method involves individualizing components into individualized components based on pre-products in an individualizing process. The components are matched to an application, where each component has an individual product number and is assigned with data of the individualizing process. A common code number and different individual product number are assigned to each pre-product. The data are transmitted to a central database. The common code number in the central database is replaced by the individual product number of the individualized product in a defined position.
