The kite (1) has an arc-shaped sail surface (2) extending from a front edge (3) to a rear edge (4). A set of connecting elements connects the kite with a control system. A tensioning element that is adjustable in length changes geometry of the sail surface, where the sail surface is pulled radially inwards adjacent to the tensioning element during shortening of the tensioning element. The tensioning element is arranged in an area of the rear edge. The tensioning element is arranged in a channel formed at the sail surface. Ein Kite, insbesondere zum Kitesurfen, umfasst eine bogenförmige Segelfläche (2), die sich von einer Vorderkante (3) bis zu einer Hinterkante (4) erstreckt, wobei an dem Kite (1) mehrere Verbindungselemente zur Kopplung mit einem Steuersystem vorgesehen sind. An dem Kite (1) ist mindestens ein in der Länge verstellbares Spannelement (10) zur Veränderung der Geometrie der Segelfläche vorgesehen, wobei das Spannelement vorzugsweise in einem Kanal im Bereich der Hinterkante (4) angeordnet ist, so dass die Flugeigenschaften des Kites (1) angepasst werden können.
