The body has a downward opened transmission tunnel (3) with U-shaped cross section, and comprising a seat cross member at both sides of the tunnel. A carrier structure (1) has upright tunnel elements (6, 7), tunnel roof element (8), and a set of floor elements (4, 5) connected with each other. The floor elements of a vehicle floor (2) are connected with the upright tunnel elements and the tunnel roof element. The upright tunnel elements consist of side wall parts (W1, W2), and Z-shaped cross-section bent portions (9, 9a) at lower ends adjusting the floor elements. Der Fahrzeugaufbau umfasst eine Tragstruktur, welche aus mehreren miteinander verbundenen Bodenelemente und Tunnelelementen besteht, wobei die Bodenelemente des Fahrzeugbodens mit den anschließenden aufrecht stehenden Tunnelelementen des Mitteltunnels und einem abschließenden Tunnelelement verbunden sind. Insgesamt besteht die Tragstruktur aus fünf Bauelementen, die beispielsweise über eine Schweißung zu einer Baueinheit miteinander verbunden werden.
