Der erfindungsgemäße Sensor für die Prüfung von Wertdokumenten, insbesondere Banknoten, weist ein Gehäuse auf, welches für die Prüfung der Wertdokumente verwendete Sensorkomponenten aufnimmt und druckdicht verschlossen ist, wobei mindestens eine mit einem Filter verschlossene Öffnung für einen Druckausgleich zwischen dem Inneren des Gehäuses und der Umgebung des Gehäuses vorgesehen ist.
