Zusammenfassung: | The core (10) comprises a body (12) and a surrounding casing (14) which matches the shape of its (12) contour (24). The novel feature is use of sheet material to form the casing. It is a metallic- or polymer foil or -film. It (14) includes fibrous reinforcement. Its modulus of elasticity and/or strength, exceed those of the core body. The casing has an adhesive layer (18) on the side facing the core body. This forms an adhesive bond with the body. The core is made of sand or salt. The core is made in a core casting box. This has a recess in the shape of the casting core. The sheet casing material (14) is laid into the recess. This is then filled with the raw material for the core body (12). Core and casing are then consolidated or cured together, to form the casing core (10). The casing material has an adhesive coating (18); this faces inwardly towards the body, when the casing material is laid in the mold. Vacuum is applied to the core or core box, causing the casing to closely match the body contour of the core, during or after curing. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the method of core manufacture.
