The method involves exchanging an identification data between a portable communication device (1) and another communication device (2) by the Near field communication (NFC)for the authentication, when the former communication device is temporarily arranged near a receiver (3) which is assigned to the latter communication device. The identification data is exchanged over a NFC interface (1.2) which is arranged in the former communication device on one side and another NFC interface (2.2) of the latter communication device near the receiver of the latter communication device. An independent claim is included for a device for mutual authentication of communication devices.
