The method involves attaching a Radio frequency identification (RFID)tag (3) at a vehicle portion (1) in a dividable manner. A portion of memory contents of the RFID tags is retrieved and analyzed by using an evaluation unit (4) in a motor vehicle (2). Cryptographic information is stored in the RFID tag to identify the manufacturer, which is read and examined from the evaluation unit. Verfahren zur Authentifizierung von Fahrzeugteilen (1) in einem Kraftfahrzeug (2), wobei an einem Fahrzeugteil (1) ein RFID-Tag nichttrennbar angebracht wird, in dem Fahrzeug (2) mittels einer Auswerteeinheit (4) Teile des Speicherinhalts des RFID-Tags (3) abgefragt und ausgewertet werden und in Abhängigkeit der Auswertung ein Warnsignal erzeugt und/oder die Funktionalität des Fahrzeugs beeinträchtigt wird, wobei in dem RFID-Tag eine vom Fahrzeughersteller autorisierte digitale Signatur abgelegt wird, welche den Hersteller kennzeichnet. Diese digitale Signatur wird an eine Auswerteeinheit (4) übermittelt und von der Auswerteeinheit verifiziert.
