The machine has a flat commutator (11) with contact segments (19), and a brush (12) contacting one of the contact segments, where the contact segments and/or the brush have abrasive particles (21). The abrasive particles are arranged in limited layers over the entire contact segments and/or the entire brush in a homogeneously distributed manner. The abrasive particles are arranged parallel to a contact plane between the brush and the contact segments, where the abrasive particles comprises feldspar and/or silicon carbide and/or silicon oxide.
