Zusammenfassung:	The device for the control of an internal combustion engine which can be run on a first and a second fuel, has a selector device (1) which determines which fuel is advantageous for a possible operating state of the engine with regard to exhaust gas emissions, and which initiates running of the engine with the corresponding fuel. A gaseous fuel is used as the first fuel and a liquid fuel is used as the second fuel. The gaseous fuel may be a compressed natural gas or liquefied gas, and the liquid fuel may be petrol or diesel oil. An independent claim is included for a method for the control of an internal combustion engine by application of the aforesaid device. Es werden eine Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zur Steuerung einer Brennkraftmaschine vorgeschlagen, die mit einem ersten und einem zweiten Betriebsstoff betrieben werden kann. Es ist ein Auswahlvorrichtung vorgesehen, die ermittelt, welcher Betriebsstoff für einen aktuellen Betriebszustand hinsichtlich der Abgasemissionen der Brennkraftmaschine vorteilhaft ist. Die Auswahlvorrichtung veranlasst den Betrieb der Brennkraftmaschine mit dem entsprechenden Betriebsstoff.
