Unpurified hot gases recovered from a wood gasification plant, are fed into a biogas digester. Here, the impurities are released and digested. A mixed gas formed initially in the biogas digester, consists of methane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen. As the processes continue in the biogas digester, conversion to pure methane gas is achieved. This is used for recovery of heat and electricity. Impurities in the hot gas comprise tar and dust particles. Bacteria in the digester. convert impurities to methane. Dust particles are bound to the substrate present in the digester. The hot gases are introduced under high pressure through a lance, 2-4 m below the liquid level in the digester. The plant comprises a wood gasifier (2), hot gas supply (5, 7), biogas fermenter (10a, b) and packaged power generation plant (11). A ring main (6) and nozzles (9) are used to inject the gas into the digester. An independent claim is included for the corresponding plant. |
