A foaming tool(14) is used to mold a foam layer(20) between a casting(12) and a film(16) on the outer visible side of the skin component(10). - The visible side of the metal pressure die cast part(12) has a normal casting surface quality. A glass mat(24) is positioned on the inner, foam side of the film with which it makes contact. The foam layer(20) is elastically deformable and is molded in a RIM (reaction injection molding) tool with a high quality surface in contact with the film. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a foam molding tool(14) used in the process which has a holding area(28) for the casting, a film holding area and a foaming chamber between the film and casting or between a glass mat and the casting.
