The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner provided with a vacuum housing comprising a lower part (12) and an upper part (14) which can be placed thereon, and a handlebar (20) which is mounted on the lower part such that it can pivot about a pivotable axis, said handlebar comprising a handle (24), in addition to two limbs (5, 26) which are arranged at a distance on the end side of the handle. Locking elements (50, 56) are arranged on the limbs (25, 26) and on the upper part, said locking elements engaging with each other in a vertical direction of the handlebar (20). According to the invention, in order to improve said vacuum cleaner such that damage to the vacuum cleaner can be reduced during handling, latching elements (38, 40) are arranged at least one limb (25, 26) and on the vacuum cleaner housing at a distance in relation to the locking elements (50, 56), said latching elements can be brought into contact with each other by pivoting the handlebar (20) in the vertical position thereof.
